This is a very strong and tradional style fence. It is built bespoke on site and is results in a very smart finish.
Bevelled rails are attached to either 4" wood or concrete multi-hole posts and onto which the feather-edged boards are nailed. Posts are spaced approximately 10ft (3m) apart. We top off our closeboard fences with trenched capping to give a final professional finish.
It goes without saying that we always aim to achieve a straight and fully level and fence where the ground allows. Closeboard is most striking when this is achieved. Where the ground slopes, we cut the closeboard to achieve a smooth run down hill (with no gaps beneath the boards). Drops in fence height are also sloped rather than an ugly abrupt change of height.
You can build closeboard upto a maximum height of 8ft6" (subject to local authority regulations) and is usually available from stock in heights from 3ft6" to 6"6". The number of rails required is dictated by the height of the fence. Gravel boards are tradionally 6" timber however these are also available in concrete.
